Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's youth. At times, the family depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who drank occasionally and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled at school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
